Personal Projects

Before I found work for it, photography was a hobby, on and off, for a few years. I liked landscapes, abstract shapes and vibrant colours. In 2023 I made a photobook of shots I had taken around Manchester, showing the city through my eye, trying to find intrigue in the mundane and beauty in the ugly. I made the book in collaboration with 42nd St as part of their annual The Future is Ours festival, which celebrates and supports young artists in the city.

Nowadays, I shoot on a fully manual film camera to keep a work and hobby separation. I appreciate how it slows me down and forces me to be more deliberate and judicious.

Film Work

I use a film camera for hobby work now, but I'm still drawn to floral textures and landscapes. This collage is shot on Kodak Gold 200, except for the top-left photo shot on Lomochrome Purple, and will be updated as I develop more rolls

Landscapes

Various landscapes, some older and some more recent. Like with the abstracts below, I like finding vibrant colours and contrast. You can find some of these as prints on my Etsy

Abstracts

Sometimes I like to experiment with abstract lights and textures, usually in the dark to maximise contrast, with varying degrees of success. Many of these shots are older, but I'd like to get back to this style someday
